My older brother gave me this watch as a gift in 1970 upon his return from Japan. I used it for the remaining 2 rough-and-tumble years of high school, and for many years later until it was stolen. It was like a companion to me and way ahead of its time.
Now, after a few decades of using watches that do everything but make you a cup a tea, I decided I was tired of digital watches. In order to adjust a digital watch, you need to go through a long ordeal of: press and hold button A for 2 seconds, then press button D 6 times, then press button D to … In the meantime, all you have to do with an analog watch is pull out the crown, turn, and press back in. Done.
So, it’s back to more sensible time-pieces for me and this SNK299 is a sound, quality choice. It’s wonderful that it’s still available.
